It all started a hundred years ago when...

...the French artist Marcel Duchamp placed his signature on a porcelain urinal and presented it as an art-object to a prestigious art jury. Duchamp started a huge debate about what an art object could or should be. With his gesture, Duchamp mocked with the whole concept and tradition of art. This was in 1917, exactly one hundred years ago. Duchamp’s fountain has become a landmark artwork of 20th-century art. From that moment on, everything could be art.

We want the people of Amsterdam to #ThinkLikeDuchamp and go out on the streets, explore Amsterdam in a new way and find and create art in the most unexpected places.
